£1050 raised for UNICEF in memory of Nellie Bly
Throughout her career, Nellie Bly campaigned against injustice, discrimination and poverty. In her later years, she used her column in the New York Evening Mail to raise awareness and funds for disadvantaged mothers and children. Donations resulting from her column ensured that abandoned children found homes, sick children received treatment and families were supported.
That’s one reason why I thought it was was appropriate to make UNICEF the recipient of any funds raised by my journey celebrating the 125th anniversary of Nellie’s global voyage. I am delighted to report that together we raised £1050.10 for UNICEF. Thank you so much to all those who contributed. I know first-hand what a difference UNICEF makes to the most vulnerable children in the world.
